London, United Kingdom

London is the chic city filled with history dating back to Roman times and prestige landmarks. The monarch is still flourishing in this iconic city. So you are guaranteed to create a historical autobiography touring this famed city!

"The best way to predict the future is to create it."-- Abraham Lincoln

Eye-Sights

While in London, we did as much sight-seeing, as possible. We hit up all of the ionic monuments the city has to offer. The following sights are totally free to see. Some sights offer tours, but we elected for photo op sessions outside of each monument (basically free 99).

  • Big Ben--national timepiece, FREE

  • London Eye--Outside FREE, admission $29

  • Buckingham Palace--Outside FREE, admission $27

  • Palace of Westminster--UK Parliament palace

  • Tower of London Castle, royal palace-- Outside FREE, admission $27

  • Tower Bridge--FREE to walk, $11 for admission to upstairs

  • London Bridge-- FREE to walk

We, also took an evening boat ride tour along the River Thames. This was a free for through a work perk. However, if you’re interested the tickets range from $18USD to $40USD. There are different lengths and arrival/departure locations. This was nice way to view the city from a different perspective!

London is known to have notable neighborhoods. Here are the few zones we roamed around. Note, there are far more areas to visit (these are just the ones we browsed).

  • Oxford Street

  • Covent Garden

  • Piccadilly Circus

During our travels, we actually met up with some friends who are from London for a night out on the town. We would only suggest this is you’re comfortable. Spending the night out on the town in an unfamiliar place can be quiet dangerous (especially for women). If you’re up for the taking, London has a very vibing night life. Use Instagram to help find what’s popping that particular night.

Not Your Fish & Chips

When planning your visit to London, please search IG! There are a TON of delicious options. IG will be your best friend! Either way, we came across some awesome finds in London. Some we tried and some we weren’t able to. See our list and links below:

Hands down the Korean convenience store called “Oh Se Yo” was Jet-Settin’ Jai's and Travelin’ Tat’s favorite. This is a convenience store bringing you traditional Korean snacks. They also have a quick and easy restaurant inside that serves up Korean dishes! Our favorites were the veggie, buggoli ramen and the tteokbokki. We ate here four times, that’s how much we loved it!

Another bestie favorite was a cool chicken spot dubbed “Wingmans”. This place had the best chicken wings. It was located further out from our lodging and we got lost trying to find it. However, the close to two-hour lost in London ordeal was so worth it once we sat down for a bite.

Goodness, y’all are going to get tired of this. But ANOTHER fan favorite is “Wagamama”. Yet, anther Asian inspired restaurant, they serve a variety of Asian dishes. Jai had the ramen and Tat had the bibimbop. Both, were amazing! If you can’t tell already, we LOVE anything Asian inspired.

Last, but not least, a restaurant we tried was “Wahaca”. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant situated in Piccadilly Circus. The Horchata is a must try!

We had a total of four days to explore London and boy did we do just that! We arrived to London via flight from Dublin, Ireland. Our flight total was $132.30USD for two people. Once you are over there (out of the USA), it is pretty cheap to travel from country to country. Once at the airport, we were able to purchase an oyster card. This is the card used for public transportation amongst visitors. For a total of three days the cost was 38.10 euro (~44USD) per person. All of the three of London airports are far out from the city. The card included a trip from the airport into the city center. If you have intentions of roaming the city streets like we did, then this card is all you need. The train system is London is superb. We were able to get to all of our destinations via subway, without having to take a bus. Yet, the oyster card does include bus transportation. We did not have to Uber or pay for a taxi during our time in London. The oyster card was perfect! Check out all the links below for transportation deets:
